Jeffrey Abinette

$50 of $1,200 raised

Jeffery W. Abinette of Long Island, NY, passed away on April 27th, 2022. In the dark morning hours, his brother found him on the bedroom floor with his hands clutching his chest. Jeffery was 34. He and Travis were two years apart and were not only brothers but also best friends, co-workers, and roommates. He was born in New York to Dawn and Jeff Sr.  Jeffrey left three siblings: Travis, Trevor, and Madison. He cherished the close relationships they shared. Jeff was the best son, nephew, cousin, brother, friend, brother-in-law, and person to call when you needed help.

Jeff overcame his demons by freeing himself from the chains of addiction. The autopsy results are not back, but his brother speculates that he had an undiagnosed heart condition and diabetes. Jeffery Abinette died three years free from active substance use disorder. He asked for donations to the Jake K. Foundation on his last birthday. No one contributed.

His sister-in-law Megan is taking up the mantle, attempting to raise awareness and donations. She started a fundraiser hoping to raise a minimum of $1,200 to help this foundation lend a hand to other people in need. Jeffery had voluntarily gone to a one-year residential rehabilitation program down south. The foundation covered the expenses until he found a job in South Carolina that paid for the life he built there. The goal of this foundation is to reintegrate folks with Substance Use Disorder into society. Let’s support a cause Jeffery cared about while celebrating his life.

So many people will always love and honor him, the challenging struggles he overcame, and all the folks he helped in their hour of need. Instead of sending flowers that will wilt and wither till the petals fall off and die, please support a cause my brother-in-law believed in.

Jeffrey will forever be in our hearts
